Physicists at CERN have recently combined positrons and anti-protons to create a microscopic amount of anti-hydrogen. Positrons are already in use in PET scanners that scan for problems within the body. Antiparticles and antimatter are similar to matter except that all properties are reversed. When antimatter and matter combine, they neutralize. This means there are no more inner forces holding them together. The result is an explosion powerful enough to create black holes.
